INTRODUCTION In 1992 a Project to examine feminist content of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (R.M.I.T's) Social Work program was undertaken.This Project originated from R.M.I.T's Social Work Department Curriculum Committee with a view to ensuring that feminist content was given high priority within the Department. The Project was supported by the Women's Writing Group, which was comprised of Department staff committed to feminist scholarship. It aimed to ensure that the Bachelor of Social Work course prepared students for the social work profession in terms of feminist practice, did not contribute to women's oppression in its teaching and was consistent with the Department's philosophy and course objectives in terms of gender analysis and practice.
